The Kregel Windmill company operated at this location from 1903 to 1991. Kregel windmills were used to pump water from wells at farms and homes in the area surrounding Nebraska City.
This factory has been preserved and contains all its manufacturing equipment. After manufacturing over 2,000 windmills, the factory ceased manufacturing in the 1940s and instead did pump repair and maintenance until closing in 1991.
