The Toledo zoo which first opened in 1900 and has grown to now house over 10,000 animals on 51 acres and regularly draws over one million visitors per year. The historic zoo features five buildings which were built by the WPA (Works Progress Administration). Those buildings are: the Reptile house, the Aquarium, the Amphitheater, the Museum of Science and the Aviary.
