One of the oldest zoos in the United States, the Roger Williams Park zoo, first opened in 1872 in Providence, Rhode Island. Today, the zoo sits on 40 acres of land and houses over 150 species of animals.
Roger Williams Park Zoo is now supported and managed by the Rhode Island Zoological Society and is owned by the city of Providence.
